Getting My Feet Wet

This is kind of different for me. I don't know how I arrived at this - this art with journaling. I think it's the "foo-foo" woman who jumped onto the page that bugged me. It's so unlike me to put her there. I mean I really didn't want to letter, "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful," but I wanted to. She needed to have more substance. 'Nuf said. Go Hang A Salami.

Did you know that "GO HANG A SALAMI" written backwards spells "I'M A LASAGNA HOG?" I know you were just dying to know this. I have not done my ICAD yet today. Maybe I won't do it until tomorrow. But I do have some more using up the scraps and faces to show you and I shall be sending them over to Artsyville to the Glue It Lounge because it's Glue it Tuesday.. And I just couldn't leave the houses out. I think it works very nicely on this gelli plate print. These faces are all from my In the Van Composition Faces Notebook. Using Up the Scraps

I'm finding myself getting in to this cutting (or in most cases tearing for me) and pasting, using up the massive amounts of scraps in my stash and actually putting it somewhere.Talk about relaxing. In this case most everything on this page is scraps of my own art with some home made stamps thrown in. I really like pinks and purples.And I couldn't resist the bit of purple washi tape. I think this will be a background journal page. I am going to share this over at the Tuesday Glue it Lounge There's some cool "sticky stuff" to see. More Gluing and Recycling

I never seem to make it on time to Artsyville's Glue it Tuesday. I suppose better late than never. I find myself enjoying this process of gluing into a journal. In this case I'm sitting in the front seat of my new car the last several mornings with glue sticks and layers of torn paper on top of an already painted page. I finished it off with my own stamps. Since I am on this kick about using up scraps of my paper, this is where I find myself. One of my index cards I made with Daisy Yellow's index card a day challenge (ICAD) from last summer was used in the above piece. She's starts another challenge this June 1st and you can find out more about that here. I thoroughly enjoyed it last summer. I found that many of the pieces I did on an index card became the inspiration to larger pieces and for those days when I was just too tired or unmotivated I always felt like I had done some art because I had done my daily index card. Some of them ended up in a little book I made, some of them got torn up and used in other art work and some of them are still hanging on my art line across the room of my studio. I will again create some art on an index card for 61 days. And lastly, here is the progress on my houses, which also fits in to Glue It Tuesday. I am loving them but I also need to seriously clean up my studio. Thanks for visiting. .......................jo

Going Home - Part 2

I left you yesterday at the Caffe Machiatto in Newburgh, N.Y. I went to the restroom before leaving. I went in and immediately forgot what I was there for. I dug in my bag for my camera.. Look! Accordion books! NOthing like feeling very watched over and protected from the front and the "behind." On a completely different note, when I was on the train I was working out of a very small journal, given the confines of the seat so when I got home I felt the need to do nothing which required much effort, planning or thinking. Some time ago I found some original drawings and spelling tests of mine from elementary school. I had torn them up and glued them down in a larger journal thinking some day I might actually do something with them. I hadn't until yesterday. I found some more original torn paper and washi tape and a few stamps and had a ball. I'm not sure if I will add anything more to it but I rather like it. The flowers are from recycled painted baby wipes. I think this is perfect for week five of Aimee's glue it Tuesday once more. I love her site. I always feel like a little kid again visiting there and that makes me feel good. I think I will try to incorporate a bit more cutting and gluing simply for the relaxation it brings. Update

Aimee is hosting yet another week of glue it Tuesday. I have had a very busy, stressful week but have managed to at least fill one side of a file folder which is my contribution for this week. Again, these paper pieces are from my own art papers and I will probably do some more on top of what's there. Thank goodness for little snippets of time in the morning in the van. And speaking of the van, the van has been laid to rest somewhere else with a transmission that was eroding, corroding, with little metallic flakes dropping into the pan, not exactly reliable etc. you get the picture, which has led me to use much of the week to car hunt, which has left little time for creativity. I now have a more reliable large enough vehicle in which to continue my morning art projects. And with that, also comes a new car payment which I have not had in at least six years. Oh, well. Such is life. Interesting to learn that the salesperson who helped me find a car is also an artist, so you can imagine the conversation moving back and forth between art and cars. I also have enrolled in a workshop here I would like to say I have something to show for this participation but at this time I do not. It has tons of workshops that are on line 24/7 through January 1, 2014. I feel it is an exciting opportunity to learn from some wonderful artists at my own leisure. I hope to be showing you more projects from that in the future. Midweek I am taking a long overdue trip to N.Y and NYC to see some dear friends and family so I look forward to relaxing on the train and doing some art. Gluing and Pasting Machine

I feel like I've been a gluing and pasting machine the last several weeks in order to satisfy my sudden need to use up my paper scraps- all of them from my own art. So I went on this kick of filling up large pieces of watercolor paper with layers and layers of my paper scraps and then cutting them into post card 4 x 6 size. Here are some from the second batch of cutting and pasting with the finishing touches of my own stamps and pens and markers. I have so many layers of paper on these cards. Paper from the gelli plate sessions, painted wax paper, wax paper or index cards with markings from stamps and or paint and paper from wiping my paint brushes,and torn paper from stuff I made that I didn't really like but didn't want to throw away. I think I've satisfied this need of making mail art for the moment. Thanks for spending a few minutes here with me................................................jo
